Fonehouse launches first new look store. The Angel store also features in the Chanel 4 programme ‘Mary Portas: Secret Shopper’, which will be shown tomorrow evening at 9pm. Fonehouse’s new look is centred on the ‘house’ in Fonehouse, with stores having a more homely feel and staff dressed casually.
Standard white walls and front desks have been replaced with light coloured wooden benches and exposed brick walls. The sales process has also changed, moving from an over the counter service style to a more informal, friendlier ‘sit down and relax’ approach.
Fonehouse has also developed a ‘tribal’ system for its handsets making it easier for customers to identify the phone that suits their lifestyle. Standard posters have been replaced with 42-inch LED screens located in the store windows and throughout the shop, displaying current promotions and offers and more information on the Fonehouse Tribes.
Live interactive handsets are located along the side wall and tables located in the centre of the store. Housed on these central bays are 20-inch touch-screen TV screens that provide information on the products in store and allow customers to compare different handsets and tariffs.
Fonehouse MD Clive Bayley said: ‘We now have an in store concept which will allow us to compete with the major retailers on the high street.
